Take a second and look around, have you noticed how busy we are? Every morning we wake up to work for some pennies so that we can buy our favorite thing or something for our children and wife. We are busy in achieving and working hard for getting promotion, more pay, incentives in order to get new big house, new luxury car etc. Precisely we are more focused and complaining for the things which we don’t have and forget to appreciate those things which make a significant importance in our life.
Let’s rewind and focus on how blessed we are! This doesn’t mean you don’t have to work hard to be a better person but the point is you don’t have to neglect the importance of what you already have. Irony is some teenagers and students are more complaining about the things they don’t have because they don’t realize the hard work of their parents, they don’t realize what it actually takes to build a house, working hard for the family and putting food on the table. They are more focused on the things which they don’t have.

If you ever feel like that then just look around. You are sitting on a chair or lying on bed and you are able to read this, be thankful for the Allah Almighty that you are among the 58% of the people in Pakistan who can read.
You have a house, food and clothes what else you want. Before complaining think about those homeless people who don’t have clothes to wear. They are spending their lives by sleeping on footpath. Look at those who are looking for shelter when it’s raining, quenching their thirst by drinking unhygienic water and striving for food. And here you are, sleeping on a soft bed, eating whatever you wish, drinking clean water, sitting on a couch, watching your favorite movie and enjoying the rain and if it’s hot outside you turn on the AC or a fan and complaining without realizing someone is dying because of heat stroke. Why don’t you feel Thankful?
In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty says:
“And remember! Your Lord caused to be declared: If ye are grateful, I will add more unto you.”
(Quran, 14:5-7)
Unfortunately, some people are so focused and busy on upgrading their cellphones that they don’t realize that they actually have to upgrade their mindset. Learn to Appreciate things which you have, start your day with Alhamdullilah and Feel blessed.
